Frequently Asked Questions
At Duct Dudes, we’re committed to educating consumers about the duct cleaning industry—and about the benefits of partnering with our company. If you do not see your question in the list below, call 866-DUDES-911 to speak with a Duct Dudes technician about your concern!
What makes your service different from the cheap coupons/ads I see?
We’ll be completely honest, here. Almost all our competitors charge less than we do, and for good reason. Here is why:
- We are the most thorough, well-equipped and well-trained company in the region. Our hand-selected technicians know the source removal procedures that we use on every single job.
- It would be rare for any of our NJ duct cleaning competitors to spend as much time as we do on each job. We typically take between two and three hours to complete an air duct cleaning, even with no extras—and four to six hours is expected for larger homes. All of our technicians are encouraged by management to take as much time as they need, and are instructed to deliver an absolutely thorough cleaning at every property. We accept nothing less. Period.
Admittedly, a few local providers share one or two of these characteristics, but nobody has the whole package. We believe our pricing is reasonable for the value you receive, and are proud to say that most of our customers become return customers. Once you experience the Duct Dudes difference, it’s hard to go back to “the competition.”
And remember, when you choose a bargain-basement cleaning company that charges $39.95 or $79.95 for a "Whole-House Special,” you’ll receive little more than a truck making noise in your driveway. If you want your ducts really clean—hire us.
How can companies offer $139 whole-house air duct cleaning?
Known as “blow-and-go” organizations, these companies give our industry a bad name. They offer these prices because they come into your home with the equivalent of a K-Mart shop vac, take your vents off the wall, and place the vacuum in the duct. These techniques are a pathetic example of an air duct cleaning, and the business practices are unethical. These substandard companies are also infamous for their use of bait-and-switch: selling an air duct cleaning job for hundreds of dollars, and completing the work with an ill-equipped team.
Will my HVAC system cleaning reduce our home energy bills?
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has demonstrated that HVAC and duct cleaning may allow equipment to run more efficiently by removing debris from critical mechanical components. Clean, efficient systems are more likely to operate longer and more effectively than dirty systems.
How should a residential HVAC system be cleaned?
Source removal cleaning methods are the most effective way to clean your ventilation system. To do this, your Duct Dudes technician will place your vent system under negative pressure by using a powerful vacuum. As the vacuum pulls air through your home’s system, devices are inserted into the ducts to dislodge debris that is stuck to interior vent surfaces. The debris then travels down the ducts and into the specialized vacuum—and out of your home!
How often should residential HVAC systems be cleaned?
Cleaning frequency depends on several factors, including homeowner preference. Some homeowners opt to remove potential pollutants more frequently because of:
- 1. Household smokers
- 2. High-shedding pets
- 3. Recent damage to a home HVAC system
- 4. Residents facing allergy, upper respiratory or asthma issues
How long should it take to clean a typical residential HVAC system?
There are many factors that impact the amount of time required to clean a residential heating and cooling system. These include the home’s size/type, ductwork accessibility, and number of technicians. To give you an idea of time, a typical three to four bedroom home generally requires two to three hours of cleaning using Duct Dudes’ state-of-the-art source removal techniques.
How can I determine if the HVAC system cleaning was effective?
Seeing is believing, and the best way to determine if the HVAC system cleaning was effective is to visually inspect your system before and after cleaning is performed. If you see dust or debris during the visual inspection, the system is not truly “clean.” Some customers opt to perform their own visual inspection with a flashlight and mirror, but a professional duct cleaner should allow you better access to system components using specialized inspection tools. Duct Dudes offers a simple, yet satisfying, solution to the visual inspection. It is called the Duct Shot, and we are happy to provide details.
Are there any health benefits that come from HVAC system cleaning?
While we do not claim that there are any specific health benefits to air duct cleaning, there is no doubt that home and business ventilation systems serve as collectors for contaminants like mold, fungi, bacteria, debris, dust and dander. These contaminants may negatively impact your health, so removing them is one way to contribute to improved indoor air quality.
